My husband and I were in Hilton Head for a weekend and we wanted to go places that we could bring our dog with us. Skillets was perfect for us! They had several gluten free options which were perfect for me. There sandwiches were really good, and the salad bar was average. They offered freshly brewed sweet tea (which is a must for us). Our service was pretty slow, but we enjoyed sitting on the patio with our dog. They offer dog meals which was fun and our pup definitely loved it! This is a great place for breakfast and lunch, and we would definitely come back!

First, the food was delicious and the location is great! I definitely recommend the seafood crepe! Now, the two reasons for the two star rating... 1. We called around 10AM to make a reservation for noon because we had a large party. The person that answered the phone said they weren't busy, and didn't need a reservation. We reiterated that we were a large party, and wanted to verify we wouldn't have any problems at noon. The employee reassured us and we hung up without a reservation. We showed up a noon and the place was packed. Fortunately we didn't have a very long wait, but the host looked very confused and had to wander around the restaurant trying to find tables to push together. I feel this could have been avoided if they just let us make a reservation. 2. Our server was trying to be friendly, but was way too friendly. He was constantly trying to make jokes (some inappropriate) and be the star of the show. I'm not saying I don't want a friendly server, but I feel they should be somewhat professional. A server should not walk up to your table and make a "separate, but equal" joke to describe how are two tables weren't touching. He also made more than a few jokes about religion and politics. My friends and I aren't prudes, but the jokes could be very offensive to some customers. About halfway through our meal we just starting giving him one word answers to avoid interacting with him. Overall, great food, but at least one server needs some training.

Disappointing. From the non-friendly greeting when we walked in, to the cheap diner food. The potatoes that came with the omlette were from a bag, not fresh cut. The avocado on top of the omlette was also not fresh, but some premade, factory produced green stuff. In a tourist and high class area, a restaurant must be exceptional to stand out. Nothing special here. I'd suggest they reduce the menu and focus on few things exceptionally well. Don't know how servers can survive working here. And! The bathrooms are bad. Clean, dust, wore things down. Seriously needs a good cleaning. The bathroom is a reflection of the kitchen.

My family and I have been coming to Hilton Head for the past 25 years. We use to always eat at the same places while on vacation here. This year, though, we decided to branch out and try something different. The menu at Skillets looked really good, and that is why we decided to try it out. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp as an appetizer, and then the sea scallops with spinach risotto, seafood stir fry, and the broiled seafood combo. The scallops were subpar. They overlooked the scallops, which is a huge no-no! They are supposed to be moist, but they were just dry and flavorless. And the risotto also had no flavor. It appeared as though they used mozzarella rather than parmigiana, which made it stringy with no salt at all! The broiled seafood platter was about the same. The scallops were overlooked, and the white fish was over salted (they appear to not be able to get the salt right on any dish). The rice was good, but seemed like it was out of a bag. The seafood stir fry was by far the best dish of the night. It had good flavors, the seafood was not over cooked, and they did not overdo the soy sauce. Lastly, the service was subpar. At any restaurant (especially one that you are paying $20-$30 a plate for dinner), I expect friendly and courteous service. We did not get this. The hostess a young kid, who appeared to car less about creating a nice environment. This is an issue as the host gives the first impression of the restaurant. The server was better, but again, was not friendly. At one point when he realized we did not have silver wear, he said "I am so sorry, the host is incompetent and can't do his job". Even if this is true, he should not openly say this to a guest. In all, I have had better dining experiences. I would not come back here, but if you chose to, keep in mind that a lot of the dishes are over cooked.

My husband and I came here because we wanted to bring our dogs with us. We loved how pet friendly it was - they brought our dogs water and even had a menu for the pups. The service was friendly but slow. The food was about average. I would return because it was nice that our dogs could come with us.

Well it was a breakfast the waiter was pleasant but breakfast fall flat. I'm thinking after the bulbs are changed and the menu is set everything goes down hill

Family friendly dining with plentiful options of great food, efficient service all in a clean and updated restaurant. Our family of 6 ranging from 19-3 y/o all found something yummy to enjoy. A few of our selections were the fruit crepes, eggs Benedict as well as the southwestern skillet. Generous portions, visually appealing and really tasty.

Nice outdoor eating... Dogs are welcomed with their own menu!! BUT... Our food tasted a little old, as in not fresh. I could barely touch the potato salad as it did not taste fresh. The stir fry was a little on the 'old' side also. Probably won't come back to this place. Decently priced, but not if you are paying for yesterday's menu!!

  • D C.

So, pros... Good coffee, good biscuits, and yummy home fries... the healthy omelette is great... Cons... Crab had shell in it, which obviously made the crab/guac omelette ehhh... Guac is a lil soupy for my taste. Overall, I'd recommend for a nice breakfast on the island:)

  • Jay C.

My girlfriend said it's a 4 but she don't have Yelp! I had the kitchen sink. I don't know if everything is under a heat lamp already made or our waiter forgot because it took awhile and my food was room temp barely. She had the seafood omelette and they has to make it fresh. Drink juice because the water is rough.

What a joke. Note to the manager: staff your restaurant appropriately. We stopped in to get a late breakfast and waited almost 10 minutes for a server. Not gonna spend money for that kind of service.

  • Kay T.

We came back for the Crab Egg Benedict...AMAZING! The service is great and I love the fresh cut strawberries on my pancakes.

  • Wendy A.

I had a skillet breakfast it was very good. Service was good. Pretty and very large restaurant close to beach. I thought it was the best breakfast I had on the island.

  • Nick N.

Nothing fancy here, just plain ole good food! This is the spot for breakfast...hearty and filling at a good price. Service was good and I will not hesitate to come back again. Only draw back to our visit was the guy out front hawking timeshares and coupons, I know he was only doing his job but he wouldn't take no for an answer.

My family and I finally decided to try Skillets for the 1st time. The service was unbelievably slow. It took a little over 10 minutes for someone to come take our order and another 40-45 minuets for the food to come out. They were not crazy busy when we got there but it did pick up after we were seated about 20 minutes. I gave a 4 stars because the wait was worth it. Our food was delicious and HOT, which we thought was going to be an issue. Normally I take pictures but we were so hungry we all devoured our food. I think if we are in the area again on an early morning, we would try it again.

  • Preeti R.

This restaurant has very slow wait times. We were seated immediately. It took us about 45 minutes to get our food. It was not worth the wait. The food was average at best. The service was okay.

    (2)
  • Mandy C.

The food is basically Denny's, Friendly's, IHOP, or whatever pancake chain you're familiar with under a different name, so don't be fooled by the exotic sounding menu descriptions into thinking this is a delicious gourmet cafe. I wish it had been worth the wait, because we certainly waited a long time. Our party of two walked in at ten minutes before 11am and were told we'd be seated shortly. Instead, we waited 45 minutes without any updates other than that the kitchen was backed up and they were not allowed to seat anyone under any circumstances at the 10 plus empty tables and booths that were available. Things can get busy of course, but isn't there a better way to treat your customers under that situation? Like seat us and let us have some coffee?! Nothing about this place is worth going to.

Nice spot for breakfast and lunch. Wide variety of a menu. Tables inside and out. Service was just ok.

  • Allison K.

I forgot to write a review about this place. I give it two stars because the food wasn't bad, but it didn't leave a significant impression. I doubt I'll be dining here again the next time I come to HHI

Always love Skillets - great customer service - good food (only place I can get Chipped Beef in forever!!) Can't wait for our next HH trip or move

  • Keri L.

We had a great breakfast experience here. They have their whole menu available during breakfast hours which was great to accommodate everyone's taste. The service was very good. We sat outside which we enjoyed. Overall very good choice. The bananas foster pancakes were fabulous!

  • Chad C.

Very good breakfast, service was good and the environment was excellent, really recommend it

  • Jacob C.

Overpriced! Seems like a family run business, food was eeehhh. Below average! I had the sliders that look nothing like the pictures and were small and pretty bland. My wife had the shrimp BLT and it was sloppy and ill prepared/presented. This place caters to the summer crowd, I should have known it would be bad because the restaurant was empty during dinner. Skip it, I'm a way better cook and could make the same stuff at a way better price and quality.

    (2)
  • Sofie S.

Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Nothing fancy or excellent but it's a fun and not too expensive place to get some pancakes!

Easter breakfast was delicious. Smoked salmon eggs Benedict was perfect. Great pancakes, but fruit not cooked in.

  • Michelle V.

I am gluten free as well as my husband and the gluten free short stack pancakes are so good! I was there for 3 breakfasts in a weeks time. I was concerned the first time I tried the pancakes because they tasted way to good to be gluten free. My husband said the same about the gluten free Belgian waffle. Tyler was a great server/waiter as well. High recommend.

  • Jonas S.

We drive 11 straight hours through the night and our first stop is always skillets for the crab-cakes Benedict...it's awesome! The kids get the kitchen sink (egg, sausage, and pancakes that resemble the silhouette of a famous Disney mouse). A fabulous area with outdoor dining. Quick, fun, and easy! A great way to start a vacation.

Only got a bad meal there one time and that was when the power was off in the area and they had power. They were so busy that night so I can understand it.

I loved this place! My grandmother and I went here for breakfast one morning. Great syrup, and perfect waffels! Very close to Marriott's Grande Ocean Resort, which is where we stayed. We walked here from GO, not so bad!

  • Steve G.

We've eaten breakfast here for over 10 years, unfortunately. Super friendly wait staff, unreasonably slow kitchen. Without exception we've waited over an hour for breakfast at the 9-11am window with group size of 6 to 8. Great selection but food isn't as fresh due kitchen wait. We've tried, we're done.

    (2)
  • Danielle S.

Clean and ok service but I did not like the food. I prefer healthier, real food options. So this place was just a wrong choice for me. Fruit was from can. Corned beef was from a can. Eggs are fake from a box. Potato pancakes were basically just hash browns.

The menu here is pretty expansive - there's a little something for everyone. But be careful with what you order...and how you order it. My husband ordered the Crab and Guacamole Omelet. Our waiter didn't understand what my husband ordered (or was too 'busy' and thought he said something else despite my husband being very clear) and ended up writing down the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict - something completely different. Of course, when the food arrives is when the mistake is discovered. 5 minutes later, his 'right' meal comes. Our waiter brought out two biscuits (there were 4 of us) because of this mishap (we think) but we didn't get.any discount on the bill -not even with the effected person. I opted for a somewhat healthier option - or so I thought - with the fruit crepes. I have never had fruit crepes like these - and that's not a good thing. They put huge chunks of melons and pineapple in a crepe - like the fruit you usually get on the side of something. And it came with about 2 cups of whipped cream on top. Yuck! Will never get those again. Our waiter was nice but seemed very rushed. He practically threw our coffees and waters down on the table. He never really apologized for his mistake either. My dining companions enjoyed their food (once it was right), otherwise I would have given Skillets just one star. The service wasn't good, the errors in the ordering and just bad dishes... not sure we'll be going back.

The food was okay, but they did not have a dish that others mentioned in past reviews. The best part of our meal was the french toast made with Italian bread.

Simply lovely spot -- all freshly made, skillets with eggs & turkey sausage. Charming & delightful, delish breakfast offerings, kids welcomed, made my sister's birthday breakfast special #myNewfav

I gave it 4 because of the service and also the food quality. Let me tell you how refreshing is seeing management taking care of the situation, with the patrons and waiters and ensuring all is tidy and clean. Andy was our server, he was corteous and fast with our order. Coffee is average only and food looks like made from scratch. Went twice and sat inside as outside is always crowded.

    (4)
  • Lindsey W.

Thoroughly mediocre. The service was slow and the food tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for twenty minutes before they served it to us. Soggy and cold. Would not go back.

    (2)
  • Wes E.

Not very good dinner. Food does not seem very fresh had to return fish tacos that were not good at all. Too many items on the menu for anything to be great.

From out of town. Came over to Hilton Head Area for the day. We started off at the beach and we realized we were hungry and wanted some bloody marry's , therefore brunch would be good. We found Skillets, which had decent reviews so we checked it out. We have been here an hour so far and still no food. We have seen our waitress 3 times now, and no hope for our food in sight. Bloody Marry's are average. Everyone else's food smells great, but we have heard numerous complaints about the orders being jacked up. Maybe we just picked a bad day. However, if you are starving, it's probably a good idea to go somewhere else.

I took a friend here for lunch who was visiting for my college graduation after we had been at the beach. We went because we wanted something a little cheaper. It's a little cheaper than most restaurants in that plaza but it isn't worth it. This restaurant looks like something that would be featured on kitchen nightmares. Our waitress was extremely rude and it took us an hour and a half to order, eat and pay when there was one other table there. All of the wait staff seemed to hate their job. It seems clean, but the decor is touristy. As for the food, all of it is clearly frozen. I ordered fish tacos, which were a frozen piece of fish on a store bought old corn tortilla that was falling apart. The pico was fresh but they put too much and the lettuce was wilting. There was a cilantro sauce that made them manageable. My friend ordered fried grouper. It was beer battered, but clearly froZen and under salted. The next day we both had horrible diarrhea. I would not recommend eating here

I'd never been here despite seeing it for years, as well, its in the middle of a parking lot. My boyfriend really wanted to try it after seeing their cocktail menu online...so i figured why not. When we were the only people there...and they then made our key lime pie martinis worse than when i made them at home during grad school (i.e. on a budget, without any high standards for cocktails)..without the advertised graham cracker rim, it should have been a sign to high tail it out of there. Instead, we asked for the rim, so they were sending someone to the grocery store. We spared them, and instead ordered a bloody and something else undrinkable. I did feel bad for our waiter, as he was just so nice...but yeah, the fact its in a parking lot pretty much speaks volumes for the drink quality (although i cannot speak for the food quality, but wouldnt have high hopes). Also, they were blaring country music, which made us attempt to chug our toxic cocktails even faster, but i suppose that's not that out of the ordinary here.

We decided to come to Skillets AGAIN for breakfast. The food was great yesterday and the service has been exceptional. Tyler served us yesterday and Liz today. Each time I looked up yesterday, Tyler was there to ask what I needed and Liz has been very accommodating today. The restaurant was busy as we arrived, but we were seated within 5 minutes. Nice ambiance and relaxed setting. You must visit when you are in Hilton Head. Order the French Toast!!

  • John E.

I was a little disappointed here - the breakfast items were decent, and the coffee was below average. We all got egg dishes (omelette and scramble), and service was reasonably good. I had heard reasonably good things about the breakfast here, but it was on the balance average.

Great food with great prices if you are looking for a cheap lunch with a great atmosphere and great food this is the place! Very friendly service and they even gave us 10 off two checks when the coupon is only valid for one check great place to eat

After driving through the night, my family and I arrived on Hilton Head Island just in time for breakfast. Since we had plenty of time to waste before we could get into our rental home, we decided to meet another carload of fellow vacationers at Skillets Café & Grill in the Coligny Plaza Shopping Center. Our table of six adults and two kids was seated immediately upon our 8:30 arrival. The restaurant was filling quickly though, so be sure to get there early if you don't want to encounter a wait. Our group was already in vacation mode, so we ordered a round of Bloody Mary's and mimosas. I didn't sample the mimosas, but I enjoyed the spicy Bloody Mary throughout our meal. My son was very hungry so we asked for his food to be brought out as soon as it was ready. We ordered the child's kitchen sink for him with a Mickey Mouse pancake, one egg, a sausage link, and a strip of bacon ($3.95). It was a lot of food for our two-year-old, but the price was fair. For my breakfast I went with french toast, the skillet way ($6.99). This is three thick slices of fresh bread, batter dipped, grilled golden brown, sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped with honey butter. This was delicious and I would definitely order it again. I also had a sausage patty ($1.99) on the side, which seemed like the same patties that McDonald's uses. I was not a fan. My wife had the vegetable scramble crêpe ($8.29), which is basically a large breakfast burrito, but wrapped in the thin crêpe instead. I did not try the crêpe, but I did share the side of "true grits" that came on the side along with a biscuit. The southern grits were very good and true to style, though I still prefer my grits with cheese. Overall our group was very happy with their meals. We would not hesitate to return to Skillets on future trips to Hilton Head.

Chicken and waffles. Very good breading on the chicken, and the food / service as good. I would add that they should do bone out on the chicken, would enhance the meal. Other then that, not the best ive ever had, but solid breakfast spot.

I think this place has wonderful breakfast! We had the seafood omelette and it was amazing! A lot of seafood and the biscuits were yummy!! Will come back tomorrow!! The place is continent in the plaza....cute decor and reasonably priced.

  • Max B.

The experience here did not start off badly, the exterior looks good and the location in Coligny Plaza is wonderful. However, once the hostess had seated me outside there was no one to be seen for at least 15 minutes. I meandered inside to find my waiter and when he finally did meet us at the table he was very brief with getting our orders. I had a basic breakfast with bacon, eggs, and grits while my significant other got a fruit crape. The food was mediocre and overpriced although the grits were delicious. Overall a horrible decision to go here, it will take a lot to drag me back to this restaurant.

  • Joseph W.

Food was decent, service was good and the place was clean. Service alley, floors and bathrooms were very tidy. Rare for most restaurants. We would go back for breakfast if we weren't staying in a condo.

  • Rob S.

Equal to the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. Food was decent. Waitress took our order and we never saw her again. Someone else brought our food, no one checked on us after we got the food. Our coffee pot sat empty from early on and our other beverages were also empty. After we finished eating I had to step inside to find the waitress to get the check which she brought and hovered by the table to collect. We've been coming to Hilton Head for 10 years and I can't say we've ever been thrilled with the place. Definitely won't go back.

Came here for lunch, i got the crab cake sandwich with their homemade chips. The crab cake was really good, and the chips were REALLY good. It's nice that they have a lot of outdoor seating, when the weather is nice, it's really nice to sit outside with your doggie. I guess this place is dog friendly, and i think they have a dog menu. In the bathroom, they had a sugar scrub, its so nice, left my hands nice and soft and smelling good. if i'm ever back here in hilton head, i'll definitely come back here!

  • Kristy C.

We came for dinner. For a Saturday night it was pretty quiet. Service was polite and helpful. We had a larger party of 7, but they kept the drinks filled and the warm delicious bread coming. I had the vegetable risotto and it was cooked well and tasted great. The portions were more than large enough to walk away a bit more than full. The kids' meals were a really good size, it even filled my older kid! I admit it took a bit longer for the food to come out than some other places and they forgot my husband's soup, but I would come again.

  • Joe W.

I had gravy biscuit with scrambled eggs, the presentation was nice the taste was average. The location is tucked away in Coligny Plaza very near Coligny Beach a nice public beach uncommon for HHI. The restaurant was clean well presented and spacious.

We eat here a few times every time we come down for vacation. The breakfast is great, especially the Pecan waffles (my fav). Sitting outside in the summer for breakfast is really great. The only downside is the hostess usually has some attitude, but the waiters are friendly if a little slow.

I came in with a group of 7 people around 8 PM. We were seated immediately and served our beverages quickly, but then it went downhill. Two people ordered water and had to get something else to drink because it tasted bad. The salad bar and italian wedding soup were good as far as our appetizers were concerned. For dinner the shepherd's pie tasted like it was a microwave dinner that was made during lunch and reheated. The scallops, shrimp, and fish dinner tasted bland and had little seasoning. No complaints about the chicken stir fry or chicken pot pie. Our server noticed the seafood had barely been touched and took 10% off the bill when we said we didn't like it. They earned 2 stars based on service quality, and because of the poor food quality. Our entrees were hit or miss, but the misses were BAD.

Went to Skillets for breakfast on a recent "Girls Trip" to HHI. The menu looked great & the coffee was really good, even though our waiter told us it was from concentrate. I ordered the Beach Skillet with a biscuit. It wasn't even a pretty plate, mostly just looked tan. It could've used a sprinkle of parsley or something. The mushrooms were canned, the bacon was bacon bits & the ham was pre-diced, vacuum packed, grocery store ham. The skillet was way too salty & the gravy just made it worse. The poached eggs & biscuit were actually good though. My dining mates ordered the seafood crepes & seafood omelet & enjoyed their meals. Our server also got a little grouchy with us when we asked him to split the check for us. Skillets is a cute place but the food is not fresh or special. I wouldn't recommend it.

I have only eaten breakfast here. My family & I enjoy breakfast here every year. Good selection for breakfast. We always have had good service. Waffles & pancakes are very large & my wife & kids enjoy them. I usually order one of the special skillets like the Burrito or the Kitchen Sink. Both are very good but not huge. Creamed chipped beef & the breakfast potatoes are very good as well. Good family friendly breakfast place. Made our yearly trip here and we had one of the best waiters anywhere ever, Mich. Probably the best experience we have had here! The rest of the staff was great as well. Very accommodating to my mom's needs since she is in a motorized wheelchair which takes up a lot of space. Thanks again for the great service!

Hunts ketchup. I should have known when I saw the Hunts ketchup. It's like a badge of honor for bad restaurants. And this one fits the bill. No reason to go into great detail, simply put, I don't recommend it. (please, please, don't order the jambalaya).

Grits..... a southern staple and this place does it right. I am from the south but certainly no grits aficionado, but the grits here was awesome. Make sure you get an order of grits if you have never had any. Asides from that, its pretty standard brunch type food. I did have the southern eggs benedict and it was very good. Eggs bendict, with a creamy sausage sauce over 2 eggs on a biscuit... Yum

Killer breakfast omelets, yogurt parfait, and biscuits. Also great fish & chips, ribs, and burgers. Ask for Cecilia - she's the BEST server - and with a smile! Ample outdoor seating - and you can bring your pets when you sit outside. Just a nice family place - not loud.

Went for breakfast and was not disappointed. I had a vegetable scramble in a crepe. Lots of good veg and size was adaquite. Home fries were nondescript and could have been hotter. No onions to speak of either. Partner had the 1/2 Skillets way French Toast. The whipped honey butter was so good she never used syrup. French Toast was nice and fluffy. Also a cup of seasonal fruit which was nice a fresh. Good choice for breakfast.

Very poor experience at Skillets. At dinner time, the resturant was largely empty. We had the fish tacos for dinner but the fish was "off" and we could not eat the meals. Salas bar was ok but nothing too special. Smoothies were good, but not worth it since we couldn't eat the meal. Service was below average; waiter was not knowledgable about drink menu, meals, etc.

Fabulous breakfast!! Omelette was fresh-- eggs over medium perfection!! We will be back!!! The service was good -- it is off season so staff is light but not a problem -- the staff is attentive!!

Unless we simply got them on a bad day, this was a real miss for breakfast. Seated at a flithy table that wasn't cleaned of dried maple syrup, leaving our forearms sticky. Server was rarely seen, and bus boys actually cleared the table next to us while the patrons were using the salad bar. My Crab Cake Benedict was just fair, with the clearly processed crab cakes not up to the standard of an ocean-side restaurant. My wife's Bananas Foster pancakes had no trace of real bananas foster, just a thin, runny syrup of unknown origin with a sliced fresh banana on top. Not the worst breakfast in the world, but could have been much better.

Skillets was alright. I can't really say anything bad about it and nothing really great. It's close to the beach, convenient and they are nice folks. They got my food out to me quickly and it was a fair breakfast. The skillet potatoes had a nice rosemary flavor, but I was expecting something more exciting than some potatoes with a few sprigs of rosemary from a place *called* "Skillets". You'll get some decent food here and then you will be on your way and never remember it.

My mom, her husband, my boyfriend and I are on vacation together at Hilton Head currently. We have had some really great food and some really mediocre food. Unfortunately this place is one of the mediocre food places. It was our first day on the island and we'd just arrived from a very long and excruciating 12 hour drive. We were all tired and hungry for something, we just didn't know what. So we went walking looking for something around Coligny plaza, when my mom spots Skillets and suggests it upon recommendation from a friend back home. I personally didn't want to eat here as I could just tell that it was going to be a bland tourist trap nightmare. I guess I just have ESP about these things. But I thought I'd reserve my judgement until after I tried it. So there we were, four weary travelers in need of lots of space and they sit us in these teeny tiny little bitty Barbie sized booths. They were effing small. And we aren't big people. My boyfriend is 6 foot 2 and 170 lbs soaking wet, and my mother is 107 at best, and they were complaining about the tight squeeze. Seating aside, we ordered our food. I got the mahi mahi with "grilled" pineapple mango salsa and risotto, so did my mom's husband, my boyfriend got the fish tacos, and my mom got the beer battered grouper strips with a spicy tartar sauce. The side salads we all got were ugly and falling off the plate. The dinner rolls that came were okay, but tasted like biscuits. My mahi mahi was overcooked although it did have a nice grilled-esque taste to it. The "grilled" salsa was NOT grilled at all...which is fine, but why say grilled on the menu when it is not. I was looking forward to a nice grilled fruit taste to go with my fish. My risotto was just bad. It had peas and zucchini in it...which I think is strange to begin with, but the frigging peas and zucchini were hard and raw! Way to ruin a creamy risotto with some crunchy weird vegetables. My moms grouper strips were nothing but batter, fish was an afterthought. She enjoyed the tartar sauce, but I thought it wasn't that great. Now, the best fish at the table were my boyfriends fish tacos. That's the only reason why this place gets 2 stars instead of one, his tacos were actually pretty good, and he loved them. Music...what the hell is up with the Christian music playing at a frigging cafe and grill? It was strange and terrible. I'm not religious, and I don't need Christianity shoved down my throat while I'm trying to shove horrible food down there at the same time. And finally, the cherry on top was the service. Our waiter was not engaged at all. I even saw him step outside at one point and look deep into the parking lot as if plotting his escape. But the worst part was they were running some sort of anniversary special celebrating like 20 years or something and giving 20% off of your total bill, excluding early bird prices. So our waiter had awkwardly pointed out that we get this discount before he gave us our checks. We told him we needed them split 3 ways: one for me, one for my boyfriend, and one for my mom and her husband. So he comes back with our bills and has this strange look on his face. He then explains that the system was able to take the discount off on my boyfriends bill, my mom and her husbands bill, but mine somehow got left out. He claimed the system wouldn't let him put in another discount after he had already done it for two others. Idk why because they were split and separated from each other. How did mine magically not get the discount but the other two did? Idk. All he said was "sorry" and kind of shrugged his shoulders and then walked away like, "sorry bout yer luck!" So I got to pay the full price on some severely over-priced food, while the rest of the table got a discount. Am I being punished? So yeah. Crappy food, crappy atmosphere, horribly imposing music, cramped little booths, and crappy crappy crappy service. Worst meal on the island so far!

Love the french toast! The potatoes are wonderful as well. One of our favorite spots on the island! Oh and their omelets are great too!

As a vegan, breakfast on HH is a challenge. I went for the Veggie Skillet, no eggs or cheese, but that left basic potatoes (I like mine crispy and hot with onions), frozen spinach, broccoli and tomatoes. The combo was fine, but nothing special. Seasonings were relatively bland, although there was some rosemary in the potatoes. My non-vegan bf got the Country Scramble Crepe which he describes as "reasonably good." The biscuit was decent and he thought the touch of rosemary in the homefries was nice. Tea and the coffee were alright- we went to Java Joes after for the good stuff.

I ordered the breakfast skillet it was decent, however the biscuit stole the show! Fresh and great taste sad that I only had one.

A great meal in a very fine restaurant with a great vibe and excellent service. We had a filet mignon cooked to perfection and a seafood sampler with delicious shrimp, talapia and scallops, along with a bottle of 14 Hands Merlot 2011 that was very good and modestly priced. We are a little surprised it is not more crowded, but no lines at a beach restaurant is a good thing!

Only one star due to the fact we were seated promptly but then never served. Went in around 2pm on a Wed. really wanting breakfast. We sat and watched as other tables were being waited on and we were ignored. After about 15 mins of this we walked out and went to Hilton Head Diner which, by the way, was excellent!

Came here for a late breakfast amd had the country crepes. Delicious! My husband had the crab cakes benedict and they were great also. We sat outside and had a nice leisurely breakfast. Waitress was nice but not overly attentive. Great menue and great coffee.

Best. French toast. ever. A caramelized crust and heavy on the cinnamon make the French toast an incredibly sweet mouthwatering breakfast that borders on dessert. The breakfast sandwiches are also good with rosemary home fries. Also a huge plus goes to any place that not only allows dogs outside but offers a seperate menu for them.

Check it out before or after beach time! Where else can you stop in for either a quick bite during the week, a leisurely brunch, before you pick up your inner tube or floatie and cross the street to the beach!

This restaurant has a great tasting Cobb Salad! Our kids also enjoyed the chicken strips and Mac and Cheese. The price was awesome considering the taste and amount of food you received. I will definitely return when we go again!

After 6 years, I revisited the rebuilt Skillets. I had the Beach Skillet (Skillet potatoes, chopped bacon, diced ham, onions, and mushrooms in a blanket of sausage gravy topped with two poached eggs). Delicious and filling, I recommend trying one of the three choices of "Skillets." I also recommend them after a good evening's effort with a beverage of choice. Go early around 8ish and you beat the crowd. Enjoy.

So so breakfast... We went on a Thursday at 930 am and waited to be seated. Service was poor and food was ok. I had an omelette which lacked flavor. Mushrooms were not cooked well and potatoes weren't anything to brag about. Best part of breakfast was the biscuit.

We were looking forward to going to Skillets when we saw their online menu. My wife was really looking forward to trying one of their omelettes. When we got there we learned that "she" decided to change the menu. We were never told who "she" was but assumed it was the owner. The new menu was somewhat more expensive and missed a few items. For example, the online menu said the fried chicken came with 4 pieces, the new menu came with 3. Nevertheless, we plundered on. The staff was pleasant enough but the waiter could have been a bit more attentive to our needs. He honestly seemed to keep coming up with excuses for deficiencies such as why we didn't get any bread when other tables who were seated after us had theirs. His reason was that the kitchen staff burned the last batch. Right. I honestly think he forgot to put our order in because it took us over 50 minutes to get our food. Again, looking at other tables- they received theirs much much earlier than us. So let me talk about the food now. My wife enjoyed her beer battered fish and the coleslaw which says something because she rarely likes restaurant coleslaw. My son had the shepherd's pie and he was disappointed with the taste and quantities. Granted, he's 16 and it takes a lot of food to satisfy him but it was small in my opinion. As to my food, I chose the fried chicken. It had 2 puny wings, an even smaller thigh and a decent sized breast. So, even though it was 4 pieces, it really equated to 2 good sized pieces. The chicken was under seasoned and very very dry. I did not continue to eat them. The fries that came with it were standard frozen shoe string type - yawn! So, to top off the experience, the table next to us was visited by the manager but she neglected to continue around the room. Really poor management choice in my opinion. Probably would be wise to solicit feedback from all your guests. Believe me, we would have given an earful. I think that Skillets is resting on it's laurels being in a touristy area. We are locals and hope that no tourist would waste their vacation dollars on this restaurant.

I liked this place alot. I had a sweet tea, grille cheese sandwich and fries. The grille cheese was nice, warm, and the cheese was melted perfectly. The fries were cooked well and they were good. The sweet tea wasn't that sweet but that is just being picky. I would recommend this place. The service was good, it just took the waitress a while to bring the bill. Overall I had a really good experience.

This is a quaint restaurant, nestled in the embrace of a dispersed shopping center. The servers and the service is pleasant; however, the food could use some improvement. If you don't mind bland taste, but want a quiet place to dine, Skillets fits the bill. Looks and low cost are the two perks of this island stop.

Breakfast was ok but the service was lacking. The hostees wasn't friendly but more business like when she sat us. I ordered my eggs fried hard all the way through making sure that the waitrees understood that I wanted it fried hard! and she brought me soft eggs that spread all over my pancakes when I poked them. Then she just takes the eggs and leaves the pancakes... They did bring out a new plate but there was never a followup, I had to flag her down for ketchup and hot sauce and juice. Anyways, not a terrible experience but I won't be going back anytime soon.

Found a seat at the bar on a Sunday morning, and enjoyed the company of a retired gentleman and friendly bartender as I enjoyed ice coffee and french toast. The service was a little slow, and the food was ok. If you're looking for breakfast basics, nothing fancy, this would be a place to go.

Decent food, decent service. Our second trip, the first was on our trip last year. Hasn't changed much. Very convenient to the beach. Dog friendly. Never tried anything but the breakfast, but the dinner menu seems ok too, it's the only place I've seen here that has a salad bar as well. Locally owned.

Decent food but small portions for the price. Three egg omelet was two eggs max. Service was good. Coffee so so. Agree decor could use an update.

The only reason to go is for breakfast. Service is poor and dinner food is sub par. If you go for dinner, make sure you have several hours... Three times over the past few years we have gone for dinner, been seated, sat at table for 10+ minutes without anybody coming to take our drink order, and we have walked out. Other customers were visibly irritated too. I'm not sure why they staff enough workers in the evening. Positive note, they are dog friendly and we like to sit outside for breakfast with our pet.

2nd time at Skillets a few years apart. Breakfast was ok but not fantastic. I had a western omelette with tiny pieces of ham, pepper and onion that wouldn't surprise if they were canned, very bland. Others in our party had waffles that were apparently good. Overall this place is about average resort area food.

I had the crab benedict which the waiter said was the best thing on the menu. That's sad because it was certainly nothing to write home about. The skillet potatoes were not that great either. We rode our bikes here from the hotel based on a recommendation from the concierge and we were not impressed. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back here.

BEST BISCUITS EVER! They had just a little bit of cheese and some sort of unknown seasoning. mmmmm good! We had burgers which were good. My daughter had the homemade "chips" with her grilled cheese and they were also great...better than the fries which were nothing to write home about. Salad bar was decent, not stellar. Great service. There was music which, when I walked in, had me worrying that we'd be fighting to talk about the speakers. I was wrong, though. It was just the right volume and great tunes. Definitely recommend. Is it Emerils? No. It's a restaurant at the beach and does a GREAT job of being what it is.

I really wanted this place to be awesome but we were disappointed. We came here on a Monday night for dinner. Steamers was packed but we heard live music on the patio of Skillets so we thought we would give it a try. We were seated right away, outside on the patio and enjoyed the live music. My husband ordered the seafood stir-fry. He likened it to a Lean Cusine. He said the ingredients were definitely not fresh and the sauce was not good. I ordered the potato crusted grouper at the recommendation of the waiter. It was good, but it came with a side of green and wax beans, with a couple of baby carrots thrown in, that were saturdated in butter/oil. The beans were okay but very overcooked. I suspect they were also frozen. My daughters ordered a grilled cheese and the chicken strips. They were good portions (the grilled cheese was HUGE) and they were happy. One thing was that we waited FOREVER for our food. I was given a side salad (came with my meal) almost immediately. It was the tiniest side salad I have ever seen and some of the lettuce was a bit wilted. We got three rolls (even though there were four of us) and then we got nothing for 35 minutes. 35 minutes!!!! It made no sense to me since the place was super slow that evening and our meals were not terribly complicated to put together. There was never even an acknowledement, let alone apology, of how long the food took. Maybe this place is better for breakfast but I would not recommend it for dinner. Too expensive for the quality of food you are getting (and with the other restaurants within walking distance, I would keep going).

Typical of restaurants on HHI, this place is overly expensive and not very good. We just returned from a week on the island and decided to try this place out for our first morning. From the moment we were seated, I was not impressed. If we hadn't ordered our coffee and beverages for the kids, I would have walked out the door. The menu was unimpressive. Our waitress must have thought everyone that ate there were alcoholics and kept trying to push drinks on us. Sorry, but at 9am I'm not interested. The service was so-so and the food was the same. Save your $$ and go elsewhere.

So so service, overpriced for what you get. The southern style eggs benedict were good. The sausage patties are just like McDonalds that they put on their breakfast sandwiches, which I personally cannot stand.

The food was good but nothing spetacular. I had the stuffed chicken, it was a little bland. If you come early there are some good specials. The problem was with the service. The waiter would not take our plates away and refills were few and far between. They did make good when their was a problem with how a steak was cooked.

Poor service. We sat ourselves on the outdoor patio and had 2 waiters chatting away just two tables down from us. In our opinion, they clearly knew we were there but didn't get us menus or give us any attention. After 10-12 minutes, I walked in to ask for menus. Waiter just grabbed two menus and guided me back out to the patio, didn't apologize or say anything. quite rude! I went to get my salad at the salad bar, came back and realized we never got silverware on the table. So again, I had to go back in and ask for 2 settings, myself since there was no sign of the waiter. The burger was eh, plain and nothing special. The salad bar, however, was fresh so I give that a thumbs up. Waiter didn't check on us during the meal and took a long time to get the check. I'm sure there are better places to eat nearby!

We ate here on our vacation, so we had a party of 7. The food was delicious, but the service was questionable. The server made sure to tell me that he didn't charge us for our re-fills on our drinks (watch out for that), and for some reason they couldn't cook my mother's steak correctly. My food was delicious, and I will have to admit that their biscuits are awesome.

Saw the website and ordered take out after a long day of shopping. Had issues finding it since the address didn't match up to where it was physically located. Potato chips were amazing but the grilled cheese lacked something to be desired. Despite having three cheeses in it, all i could taste was wheat bread. Best friend got the BLT and thought it was incredibly good but more than she could eat. Her fries were "delicious".

Food was Wonderful. Definitely suggest getting the omelet with lump crab and guacamole. DELISHIOUS!! Also tried the grits and they were good as well. Service was kind of slow, but I guess they are running on island time. I would suggest taking a visit to this restaurant if you're in the area.
